Tinder suffers outage after Facebook's privacy fixes

Tinder users faced login issues in the wake of Facebook altering its developer frameworks in the name of "improving data privacy", according to Engadget.

But wait, you say - how could Facebook possibly affect my Tinder account?

The app led users to an endless cycle of login errors and malfunctioned after sweeping changes to Facebook 's restrictions on third-party apps and terms of service.

Tinder acknowledged the issue on Twitter but did not responded with a comment.

Tinder operates in almost 200 countries, across more than 40 different languages and with millions of users using its app every single day.

It said: "Tinder requires you provide additional Facebook permissions in order to create or use a Tinder account".

Facebook head honcho Mark Zuckerberg conducted a Q and A with members of the press about protecting user information on Wednesday; the transcript can be read in full here. The ongoing scandal meant Facebook tweaked its privacy settings, and that resulted in Tinder briefly breaking for anybody who used Facebook to log in to the app. "We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to have everyone swiping again soon", the company said on Twitter. "Bravo to Facebook for being considerate of their only valuable product".

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a two second video should be worth at least 48,000 by our estimations, which perhaps explains the move from one of the world's biggest dating apps (as reported by TechCrunch).

Tinder users have been left scrambling after users saw their messages and matches disappear.

After user data ended up in malicious hands, Facebook knew it was time to pay more attention to what apps access personal information.

Tinder is also said to add a "female first" option, that would allow the ladies to take a call whether to strike a conversation or not.

We reached out to Tinder in an effort to further get to the bottom of what may turn out to be a sexless night for millions, and will update this post when and if we hear back.
