Toyota to add Amazon Alexa integration to certain 2018, 2019 models

Toyota detailed it will include Alexa in Toyota Entune 3.0 App Suite and Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0, but didn't say which specific models will get the infotainment system updates in 2018.

Toyota said on Tuesday that it will be deploying Alexa beginning with its Entune 3.0 App Suite and Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0 vehicle system software updates for select 2018 model year vehicles later in 2018, giving US customers access to Alexa while on the go.

In addition to being integrated with Windows 10 PCs from HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer; Alexa also will power two Kohler toilets, a new bathroom mirror and other products from the new Kohler Konnect line, according to TechCrunch. This feature will allow Toyota and Lexus customers in the U.S. to interact with Alexa in the vehicle. Toyota is planning to bring Alexa to more of its own models this year and in 2019.

Google Details Spectre and Meltdown Fixes for Its Cloud Services
It's been a long week since we first learned about the now infamous Spectre and Meltdown chip vulnerabilities . In the statement, AMD admits that its CPUs are not only affected by Spectre Variant 1, but also Variant 2.

When Vuzix last week announced that its Alexa-enabled augmented reality smart glasses would debut at CES, you had to know it was just the beginning of the Alexa avalanche coming in 2018.

"It's still really day one for us in terms of what we can do with Alexa in the vehicle", said John Scumniotales, head of products for Alexa's automotive efforts, onstage at an event at CES. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Nissan, Daimler, Ford and BMW have all already announced some form of integration of Alexa.

The service will also enable new features in the cars themselves, such the ability to start the engine remotely or lock the auto doors, by giving a command through another Alexa device in the home or elsewhere. But Amazon's deal with Toyota, one of the world's largest automakers, marks new heights for Alexa's world domination.
