Teacher says board president should resign

A teacher was forcibly removed from a school board meeting and arrested after saying that pay raises for leadership on the board was a "slap in the face" to all teachers. "Speak out, be vocal".

However, social media users are confusing the Vermilion PD in OH with the Vermilion Parish school board in Abbeville, La., where a teacher was arrested Monday and forcibly removed from a school board meeting for arguing against a superintendent's pay raise.

"It was not good in any way", he said.

"I'm hoping for teachers, people outside of education, to have a voice", said Hargrave, who teaches middle school language arts.

She continued: "When I first started teaching there was like 20 kids in a class and now there are 29 kids in a class, and we have not have been given raises".

At the gathering an Abbeville city representative marshal utilized by the school area faced Hargrave, requesting that her take a seat or be evacuated, as indicated by KATC. According to news site, "a survey of more than 1,800 public and private school teachers conducted in the 2015-16 school year" showed that the average American educator had to spend $600 of their own money in order to provide adequate school supplies for their students. Death threats against Puyau and others caused a temporary lockdown at the school board's office Tuesday.

She returned to work Wednesday.

A video showed a city marshal, identified as Reggie Hilts, approaching her as she spoke during a portion of the meeting dedicated to public comment. Supporters accompanied her wearing T-shirts with the words: "Stand by Deyshia". They said the man was uncooperative and resisted arrest after city crews were dispatched to cut grass and weeds on his property.

Video of the meeting shows that Hargrave addressed the superintendent directly after she was asked by a board member to comment on the contract vote.

US Panama Ambassador Resigns Over Trump
He tweeted: "Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Marine Corps, Feeley joined the State Department in 1990, becoming ambassador to Panama in 2015.

"[The comments] wouldn't have had the traction or the notoriety had I not posted", Chief Hartung said. Meanwhile, Puyau said he, his staff and his family have received death threats.

"I've stopped reading them because they're just so bad and disgusting", Puyau said, at times struggling to compose himself in an interview.

"I was dependably shown that what's privilege is correct and what's wrong will be wrong, and when you see something you should state it's wrong ... so I stood up", she said.

The turmoil follows the board's 5-3 vote Monday night approving a new 3-year contract raising Puyau's salary by roughly $30,000, to about $140,000 annually, with incentive targets that could add 3 percent a year. Moments later - after briefly leaving the view of any cameras - she was on the hallway floor with her hands behind her back, being handcuffed and complaining that the officer was hurting her. She replies that she was not resisting the arrest. "He's clearly apologizing, but then in the next sentence, he says that's what you want from me", said Breaux.

School board member Laurie Leblanc did speak out for Ms Hargrave after the incident, saying: "what happened here tonight, the way that females are treated in Vermillion Parrish..."

"It was not good in any way", he said. It took everybody by surprise. "We work very hard with very little to maintain the salaries we have".

As a response to all the messages, Vermilion PD asked followers to stop sending hate mail on its page Wednesday.

Abbeville is about 150 miles west of New Orleans.

School board president Anthony Fontana also defended the actions of the officer in an interview with KATC, comparing the action taken to a student's being punished for unruliness.
