Real Madrid crisis continues at La Liga

With AP Photos.Real Madrid has received more jeering from its home fans after it lost to Villarreal 1-0 at home in the Spanish league.

Another poor result, another round of jeers for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are officially in crisis after Saturday afternoon's 0-1 La Liga defeat at home to Villarreal, and coach Zinedine Zidane is now in serious danger of losing his job, with his inability to even explain what is going wrong testing the nerves of everyone around the club.

Real had almost triple the amount of shots on goal as Villarreal and also had Cristiano Ronaldo hit the woodwork twice at a rainswept Santiago Bernabeu, but Pablo Fornals's 87th minute strike inflicted a third home defeat on the floundering champions this season.

"He seems fine to me and that's the important thing", said Zidane. But the truth he should have buried the chance and a tally of just four goals from 83 shots in 13 La Liga games is terrible from the reigning Ballon D'Or.

"I think we showed a good attitude, we have fought well, all the team". It's tough for the players, they gave their best. "There's no problem with our attitude, we are practically the same squad and have the same desire, but we're just not getting the results".

Madrid also drew at Celta Vigo 2-2 a week ago, and lost to Barcelona 3-0 at the Bernabeu in its last match previous year. Not long ago, Madrid went a record 73 consecutive games scoring, but they have now failed to find the net in four of their past seven in La Liga and dropped into a battle simply to finish in the top four. I keep thinking about it because there are many points left, but logically every time we do not win the chances are much lower.

With the final whistle drawing ever closer, Villarreal pounced to steal an unlikely victory with a breath-taking counter-attack.

But things were about to take a turn for the worse as he pulled his tee shot left and hit a tree just 220 metres off the tee. Harman played in the final group last week and tied for third, though no one was about to catch Dustin Johnson.

"We knew we could make history", Villarreal coach Javier Calleja said.

The host had most of the chances under steady rain, but Villarreal also threatened a few times before Fornals found the net.

Los Blancos intensity from the first half had gone and they had to wait until the hour mark to claim their first chance when Ronaldo broke down the right and from a tight angle took on the strike, but the ball was sacked straight at Asenjo.

The home side began brightly as Gareth Bale had a goal correctly ruled offside and Ronaldo hit the woodwork twice.

A counterattacking opportunity arose in the final moments, and the visitors took full advantage as Fornals chipped a rebound over Keylor Navas for the dramatic victor. Fornals picked up the loose ball just outside the area and chipped it over the goalkeeper for the stunning victor. It has won only half of its games at the Bernabeu.

In the early kick-off, Michael Olunga scored a 22-minute hat-trick on an historic day for Girona as they thrashed bottom club Las Palmas 6-0 at Montilivi.

Las Palmas has only 11 points from 19 matches.

Girona reached ninth place in the 20-team standings.
