Olympics: N. Korea says work cut out after talks with IOC

North Korea has agreed to take part in the games in South Korea, and the two countries have agreed to hold more discussions on easing tension along their border, and to reopen a military hotline.

The offer has not been confirmed by North Korea officials yet, but they have announced that a delegation will be sent to compete at the Winter Olympics - including a "cheering squad" - in what is seen as a major step forwards in improving relations between the two nations.

Also on Friday, South Korea's unification ministry invited the North to further talks about the Olympics in the truce village of Panmunjom on Jan 15, a statement said.

"The OCA is heartened by the announcement on Tuesday and looks forward to seeing the flags of two of our member National Olympic Committees flying high together at PyeongChang 2018.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy doubtful for National Football League playoffs
X-rays taken at the stadium on Sunday were negative and McCoy was re-evaluated Monday, when no structural damage was detected. How effective McCoy will be if he plays remains to be seen. "Especially the way I play, it's more cutting than running".

We plan to consult with North Korea as soon as possible if both sides could set the date for the talks", Baik Tae-hyun, the ministry spokesman, told a press briefing, today, reported the Korea herald. The deal marks the first time that athletes from the North will compete in a South Korean Olympics, as North Korea boycotted the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.

Hopes of North Korean participation in Pyeongchang rose after the regime's leader, Kim Jong-un, said on New Year's Day he was willing to discuss sending athletes. In 1991, they joined forces at the World Table Tennis championships and the football under-20 World Cup.

He added that Seoul was reaching out to other countries in the hockey competition to explain the situation.
