Bautista Agut beats Del Potro to win Auckland title

Roberto Bautista Agut received a big confidence boost going into the Australian Open when he beat Juan Martin del Potro in three sets in the ATP Auckland Classic final on Saturday.

In a battle between the 2016 Classic champion and the 2015 Classic champion, the more recent Auckland victor ultimately proved too strong.

There, both players held easily in the first 10 games, hitting some powerful forehand winners like that one that kept Roberto in the match in the 10th game when he served to prolong the final.

Del Potro, who sealed the Auckland title in 2009, shone in the key moments and fought off six of the seven break points Ferrer forged in a tense clash, with two games in the second set lasting nearly 10 minutes apiece.

Del Potro had the first break point of the match in Bautista's opening service game, after a rally lasting 32 shots.

"Unfortunately the match can't have two winners", an exhausted Bautista Agut said after the two hour, 52 minute clash.

"It was tough at the beginning, to have rhythm with the ball". I've been fighting a lot on the court...

Iran protesters arrested, will face harsh punishment
Iranian leaders often accuse the United States , Israel and Britain of seeking to overthrow the clerically overseen government. On New Year's Day, he said it's " time for change ", writing that the Iranian people "have been repressed for many years".

Roberto Bautista Agut let out a guttural roar immediately after lobbing his way to an ASB Classic semi-final win over Robin Haase.

"I started the match very well". "You never know what will happen but I took my chances and got through".

The second set was closer, with del Potro much more competitive.

It was all about the Spaniard in the rest of the set, he held at 15 in game 5 with some stunning forehands and he cracked another victor from that wing to break Delpo once again, moving a game away from the opening set.

"It's fantastic to me to be playing tennis again after my wrist problems", Del Potro added.

That was to be the last blip of the match for the Argentine, though, as he comfortably served out the first set and required just a single break in the second, saving five break points en route to victory.
