Indian woman arrested over 'replacement husband plot'

Indian woman arrested over 'replacement husband plot'

A woman murdered her husband and almost swapped him with her paramour through plastic surgery, but it was a bowl of mutton soup which gave away the crime.

Police in Telangana uncovered the shocking facts during the investigations in Nagarkurnool. But she became close to Rajesh, a physiotherapist, with whom she hatched the murder plan.

M. Swati, a 27-year-old nurse at a local private hospital, was married to Sudhakar Reddy for three years and had a child with him.

They are said to have raised the alarm after bringing mutton soup in to hospital - one of Sudhakar's favourites - only for the bogus patient to turn it down saying he was a vegetarian. Later, she threw acid on her paramour with the aim of passing him off as her husband so that they can live happily ever after. Believe it or not, they nearly succeeded in their plan, but then the story took a dramatic turn.

While Swathi has been arrested by police, Rajesh is being treated in the hospital for burn injuries on his face.

Swati reportedly called her husband's family to inform them that he had been attacked by a group of men who had broken into their house.

The Cure Announce Massive 40th Anniversary Show With Interpol, Slowdive & More
Robert Smith and company have announced a massive 40th-anniversary show for Saturday, July 7th at BST Hyde Park in London. Also included on the bill are Goldfrapp , Editors , the recently-reformed Ride , Slowdive and The Twilight Sad .

According to police, Mrs Reddy had confessed to injecting her husband with an anaesthetic on 27 November and, after he lost consciousness, bludgeoning him to death with an iron rod with Mr Ajjakolu.

After disposing of the body in a forest the boyfriend, named only as Rajesh by police, is alleged to have poured petrol on his own head and torso then set himself alight. "They hatched a conspiracy to ensure Rajesh could take the place of Sudhakar and even take control over properties", Nagarkurnool deputy superintendent of police (DSP) A Lakshmi Narayana told TOI. Rajesh's face was later disfigured with acid so that he could get her husband's face with the help of plastic surgery. The family then alerted the police.

Police arrested Swati on Sunday. When they started asking him some questions including the identity of some relatives, he stopped speaking and instead tried conversing in signs.

Swathi also revealed that she got the plastic surgery inspiration from popular Telugu movie Yevadu, which was released in 2014.

Rajesh's was taken to a hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors advised plastic surgery and started treatment. In the movie, a young man is wounded and a woman plastic surgeon gives him the face of her dead son.
