Today's National Weather Service forecast: Rain before 4 p.m., then a 100 percent chance of showers between 4 and 5 p.m., then rain likely after 5 p.m. Southwest wind 5 to 10 miles per hour becoming north after midnight. Northwest wind around 5 miles per hour.

Thursday - A chance of snow showers, mainly after 1 p.m. North wind around 5 miles per hour.

With colder air in the region and light rain extending across the Southeast, a mix of rain and snow is expected late Thursday night through early Saturday morning in the northwest and northern Piedmont. A low-pressure system expected to form along the front will provide the snow, said Faye Morrone, a weather service meteorologist in Upton, New York.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
