Musk to send auto into space

Musk to send auto into space

The new vehicle will be the most powerful rocket in production, capable of carrying more than 63 metric tons of cargo to low-earth orbit-or almost 17 metric tons to Mars. Its first stage is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores whose 27 Merlin engines together generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft.

Elon Musk isn't new to the "let's send something odd into space" game. The answer is somewhere between the second and third options, according to Musk and anonymous SpaceX sources. SpaceX's rocket-launching business is less susceptible to competition and could become a more time-consuming focus of the chief executive officer that the two companies share, he said. For the 2010 debut of the company's Dragon spacecraft, which now performs regular service hauling supplies, hardware and scientific experiments up to the International Space Station, engineers loaded it with an enormous wheel of Le Brouère cheese, in reference to a Monty Python sketch. The auto will then be put into orbit around Mars in its own little capsule while it belts out David Bowie's legendary song "Space Oddity" presumably to aliens to intercept. The rocket was originally supposed to take flight back in 2013 or 2014, but its maiden flight is now pegged for January 2018.

Western governments, including the United States, stressed their support for Hariri and Lebanon. Saudi Arabia has accused the powerful armed group of fermenting conflict in the region.

SpaceX also plans to be able to recover all three rocket cores that power the "Falcon Heavy", just like it has done over the previous year with main rocket booster stage of its "Falcon 9" rockets, according to The Verge.

A SpaceX official has confirmed that the Tesla payload is real and expected to launch to Mars' vicinity on the Falcon Heavy in a launch slated for the same Florida launchpad that sent NASA's Apollo astronauts to the moon.
