Utah State headed to Arizona Bowl against New Mexico State

This will be New Mexico State's first bowl game appearance in 57 years.

LAS CRUCES -After 56 years without, the New Mexico State Aggies are going to a bowl game. They finish their season at 6-6 after the win on Saturday. Ironically, that was the last bowl game NMSU had appeared in prior to this season.

Both teams also use the Aggies mascot, which the Arizona Bowl noted Sunday by changing their handle to "A (ggies) rizona Bowl" on Twitter.

Packers expect Aaron Jones to play behind Jamaal Williams
After an incomplete pass made it third down, Winston lined up in shotgun and walked to the line of scrimmage to adjust the play. Jameis Winston will be back under center for the Buccaneers after missing the past three weeks with a shoulder injury.

Utah State returns to a bowl for the first time since losing to Akron in the Potato Bowl two years ago.

The Aggie are thought to be prime candidates for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, which is December 29 in Tucson.

"They refused to let our guys fall away and every time things started edging away from us crowd got behind them and picked them back up", said Doug Martin. That year, they went 11-0 and beat Utah State in the Sun Bowl. Lower-tier bowl games are typically costly enterprises for schools and New Mexico State isn't in a position to absorb a financial hit. USU has never faced Sun Belt members Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State or South Alabama. CSU previously won the New Mexico Bowl in 2013 under then head coach Jim McElwain (CSU 48, Washington State 45) and again in 2008 with Steve Fairchild at the helm (CSU 40, New Mexico 35).
