Partial lunar eclipse occurs Monday

Partial lunar eclipse occurs Monday

Even if you're not in the path of the partial lunar eclipse, Monday will bring a summer full moon to the night sky. It will, however, be a total lunar eclipse. However, as the three celestial bodies are not perfectly aligned, only part of the moon's surface is covered by the central part of the Earth's shadow. "The eclipse may be undetectable unless at least half of the moon enters the penumbra", it said. Lunar eclipse is discernible from a large part of the Earth.

Lunar and Solar eclipses happen in pairs, with the lunar eclipse happening within two weeks of a solar eclipse.

The eclipse will begin at 1550 GMT, and the moon will start entering the shadow region at 1723 GMT, the report said, quoting the International Astronomy Center. The upcoming partial eclipse of the Moon will be visible from all places of India. The level of darkened is often described in terms of the DANJON SCALE.

The penumbral phase will start over Qatar sky at 6:50pm Doha local time and the partial phase will be start at 8:23pm. Duration of the Partial Eclipse - 1h 55m.
