Director Ron Howard Teases Death Star, New R2 Unit

The film has been in production for just over six months and is on its second director, as Ron Howard took over for Phil Lord and Christopher Miller following their firing in June. This suggests the Death Star could be included in the movie.

Theories then began circulating after Howard posted the photo that the Death Star might make an appearance in the untitled Han Solo film.

Ron Howard has revealed The Empire will feature in the new Han Solo film.

Howard shared a pic on Twitter of a shiny, black Imperial helmet - a helmet that looks a lot like the ones worn by Death Star troopers in the original trilogy.

Of late, Howard has been sharing some photos of the furry Wookiees, hinting at the fact that we will indeed spend some time on Kashyyyk, where we will most likely learn the origins story of the heroic acts of Han that lead to Chewie's life debt owed to the scoundrel. This has not been confirmed yet, though it will not come as a surprise should the planet destroyer end up in the movie.

According to what is now called "Legends" or the Extended Universe, Han Solo once served for the Empire, /Film reports. After all, the Death Star is very iconic and was even one of the main subjects of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".

The Han Solo film will arrive in theaters on May 25, 2018.

Han and his wookiee sidekick Chewbacca will be seen first meeting Lando Calrissian - played by Donald Glover - and they will also encounter Woody Harrelson's alter ego Beckett, who is believed to be a mentor to young Han who guides him on his journey to becoming a space smuggler.
