Royal Air Maroc to Start Pilgrimage Flights August 8

He warned pilgrims against patronizing fake agents and tour operators saying that about eighty five offices of such illegal agencies were recently closed down by the commission and attributed the increase in the cost of this year's pilgrimage to hike in the dollar against the Naira.

"We hope the ministry will be able to inform Bangladesh hajj agencies on this matter through a circular", he said.

Aiming to resolve the ongoing uncertainty over Hajj flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has applied to Saudi Arabian civil aviation authority to allot more slots (landing permission) for transporting Hajj pilgrims.

"In order to make the operation of the Hajj a successful action like every year, Royal Air Maroc has strengthened all its operational tools to ensure that pilgrims transport will be carried out under the best possible conditions of safety", the airline said in the statement.

From now on, regular fights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry hajj pilgrims decreasing the number of other passengers, he said.

Abdullahi said that the air transportation of the state intending pilgrims was inaugurated on August 1 by the Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai at the Kaduna International Airport in a ceremony attended by top government officials.

Many passengers aren't wearing seat belts
Almost 40 percent of people surveyed said they sometimes don't buckle up in the rear seat because there is no law requiring it. Of these laws, 20 carry primary enforcement, meaning a police officer can stop a driver exclusively for a belt-law violation.

This year a total of 1,27,198 pilgrims - 4,200 under government management and 1,22,998 under private management- are scheduled to go to Saudi Arabia for performing hajj. Of them, only 29 dedicated flights and eight scheduled ones have so far taken off for Saudi Arabia.

Following the situation, Bangladeshi pilgrims are grappling to pay the fees and additional charges, causing complications in visa processing, which is a major reason for Biman to cancel flights.

The National Commissioner cautioned pilgrims against carrying hard drugs such as tramadol and cocaine stressing that anyone one with such contrabands in Saudi Arabia would face the capital punishment which is death penalty.

This year, the Saudi government launched the E-visas programme for the hajj pilgrims. "Hajj and Auqaf officials availed SIM card facility to pilgrims from Hajj house, but some of them could not be activated as they (pilgrims) failed to provide relevant documents".

According to him, airlifting of pilgrims from kwara state via the Ilorin International Airport would commence on Thursday this week with Medview and Max Airlines.
