SDCC: The Trailer For Ready Player One Is Here

One of the highly anticipated movies of next year is Ready Player One and the film's young stars Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke were on hand at 2017 Comic-Con to debut the first footage!

In less than two minutes, there are a ton of hidden secrets (and blatant cameos) in the Ready Player One trailer.

The story follows Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) as he takes on the challenge set by the creator of the OASIS, James Halliday, to find an Easter egg he left inside the virtual world. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS.

We can then see the character alongside Freddy Krueger, the monster from the Clutches of the night, the Giant of the iron Giant and trying to make the race with the famous vehicle DeLorean from Back to the future, while avoiding huge wrecking balls.

The film is an adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel about a futuristic teenager's escape into a virtual world, where he has to outrun enemies and solve puzzles based on '80s pop culture references. The trailer shows a look inside the world of Oasis including colors, lasers and pop culture references.

"I grew up watching this man's movies and studying them", said Cline.

"When I read Ernie's book, it was the wonderful flash-forward and flashback to the '80s that I used to work in", Spielberg said.

The 70-year-old director now sees VR as the opening of new possibilities, where humans are able to do "anything you can possibly imagine".

"I never thought we'd be able to make this movie, because we'd need someone like Steven Spielberg to direct it".

We got our first look at the world of Spielberg's Ready Player One in mid-July when Entertainment Weekly published a photo that magically brought the world of the book to life.
