MIT issues statement regarding research on Paris Agreement

US President Donald Trump announces his decision that the United States will withdraw from the landmark Paris Climate Agreement, in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, US, June 1, 2017.

A slight majority, 51 percent, think Trump's decision will do more to hurt global efforts to address climate change, compared to just 11 percent who think it will help.

Here's what his ambassador to the United Nations says: "President Trump believes the climate is changing". When pressed about Trump's beliefs, advisors Gary Cohn and Kellyanne Conway told journalists to "ask him". "And if the Paris agreement was something that works for them, that they can achieve, they should do that", Haley said.

USA ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told CNN's Jake Tapper that President Donald Trump believes "the climate is changing" during an interview that will air on Sunday.

"Just because the United States got out of a club doesn't mean we aren't going to care about the environment", Haley said. "He knows that it's changing and he knows the USA has to be responsible for it and that is what we're going to do". Concerns about Trump's views on global warming and climate change have been cause for concern ever since his election given that he has refused to acknowledge the phenomenon in the past.

"Everyone knows he isn't going to do that, because he doesn't believe in it", Kerry continued.

Trump has repeatedly described climate change as a hoax, on one occasion in 2012 saying it was a concept "created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive".

Sir, - President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement has been greeted with a chorus of disapproval around the world.

Mr Trump's top climate adviser, Mr Scott Pruitt, was indignant.

"Chicago has proven you can create jobs while reducing your carbon footprint, and we will continue to do both", Emanuel said in the statement.

The former secretary of state repeatedly criticized the president for failing to acknowledge the economic benefits of sustainable energy, and that climate change exists at all.

Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 agreement to cut emissions saying it undermined the USA economy, cost U.S.jobs, and put it at a disadvantage to other nations. "But American sovereignty matters", Haley said. What this means for the Carolinas, the environment, business and America's position as a leader.
