Rep. Steve Scalise listed in fair condition, hospital says

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) continues to get better, according to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Sava earlier said the Louisiana congressman had been at "imminent risk of death" when he was first brought into the hospital on Wednesday, and he received many units of transfused blood.

"The American Hospital Association says a person is in fair condition when the vital signs are stable and within normal limits; the patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable; and indicators are favorable".

Scalise was injured in a shooting last Wednesday in Alexandria, Virginia.

Michigan airport evacuated after police officer injured
A police officer was stabbed Wednesday at a Flint, Michigan airport, and passengers were evacuated, according to authorities. Airport and police officials didn't immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Several GOP congressmen and at least two Republican senators attended the practice, Paul told MSNBC. Mika was initially listed in critical condition following surgery, but his family said Saturday that he is expected to make a full recovery.

Scalise faces a long road of rehabilitation, but doctors "fully expect to him to walk. and hopefully run" in the future, Sava said.

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday said that Scalise had been talking and texting following the shooting. U.S. Capitol Police and other officers returned fire and killed the gunman, who turned out to be an unemployed home inspector with a deep animus toward President Donald Trump and other Republicans.

The gunman, James T. Hodgkinson, died in a shootout with police.
