Charlie Crist calls decision to exit Paris climate agreement 'immoral'

President Donald Trump says he'll announce his decision on whether he'll pull the US out of the Paris climate accord during a Rose Garden event Thursday.

Trump, asked Wednesday afternoon if he had made a decision on whether to exit the Paris climate accord, responded, "Very soon".

Campaigners have reacted angrily to reports that President Donald Trump is poised to pull the United States out of the Paris Agreement.

The decision, yet to be publicly announced by the White House, has been reported by several media outlets including the New York Times and the Washington Post and sourced by "officials with knowledge" of the situation.

It's expected that Trump will follow through on a campaign pledge to pull the United States out of the global pact to fight climate change, a source briefed on the decision told Reuters, a move that promises to deepen a rift with USA allies.

"If we lose that leadership, there may be a tendency for especially the developing world.to back off their pledges and the whole climate agreement could come unraveled" said Schnoor.

The US signed up to the hard-won agreement under former president Barack Obama, but Mr Trump promised to abandon the deal during his election campaign and to boost fossil fuels.

While Nicaragua raises no such issues, the Latin American country and Syria do share a significant difference with the United States when it comes to greenhouse gases: scale.

China and the European Union have forged a green alliance to combat climate change and counteract any retreat from global action by Donald Trump.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round of the French Open by beating Joao Sousa 6-1, 6-4, 6-3. Philipp Kohlschreiber , Germany, 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke says he can't comment on whether the USA should pull out of the landmark Paris climate agreement because he hasn't read it.

The European Union and China indicated they would press ahead with the deal, regardless of United States participation.

According to the U.N.'s website on climate change, the agreement has a "hybrid of legally binding and nonbinding provisions". They say they do not see major USA utilities shifting back to an approach other than clean-energy co-operation.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Trump was working out the terms of the planned withdrawal with Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt, an oil industry ally and climate change skeptic.

What is the Paris Climate Agreement?

He was to meet later Wednesday with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who has favored remaining in the agreement. "It is a tough reality which affects peoples' daily lives", European Parliament President Antonio Tajani said in a statement. Pope Francis gave Trump a pointed gift - his encyclical "Laudato Si", which calls for science and religion to partner in a drive to fight human causes of climate change. "Now they're leading the charge on climate change".

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer had refused on Wednesday to confirm whether the president already made a decision.

The Paris Climate accord's premise is wealth distribution by policy, it would not have much of an impact on Earth's climate.

"Despite the United States having been responsible for a massively disproportionate share of historic greenhouse gas emissions, it is now washing its hands of the situation while billions of the world's most vulnerable peoples will face the fatal consequences of rising sea levels, drought, desertification and failing crops".
