Chelsea Manning released from prison early

The money will pay for Manning's living expenses for her first year out of prison.

Pvt. Chelsea Manning is due to be released from a Kansas military prison after serving seven years of her 35-year sentence for leaking classified government materials to WikiLeaks.

An Army spokeswoman says Manning remains subject to the military's criminal code until her discharge from the Army. The leak, which Manning said she provided "to show the true cost of war", is considered to be the largest of its kind in USA history. However, they did not allow her to grow her hair longer than military standards set for males, or allow her to visit a surgeon to discuss sex reassignment surgery.

"Manning said she shared information that she believed wouldn't harm the U.S. But critics said documents posted on the Internet by WikiLeaks identified informants who had helped the military, potentially putting their lives at risk", the Times reports.

While Graham was upset by Manning's release, he campaigned for the release of Pastor Saeed Abedini from an Iranian prison.

Manning was convicted in 2013 of leaking secret military and US Department of State documents and battlefield video. After her release, she will remain on active duty, albeit on unpaid leave, during her appeal, making her eligible for medical benefits, Army officials said.

President Barack Obama commuted the bulk of her remaining sentence-all but four months to be exact-in January, as one of his final acts in office. Manning garnered huge media attention for the vastness of her whistleblowing efforts.

Manning was known as Bradley Manning when she was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2013.

Man United sweating over Fellaini injury
As the 2016-17 Premier League season draws closer and closer to its end, Southampton welcome Manchester United to St. Southampton struggled to relieve the pressure building on manager Claude Puel against an under-strength United.

"I think he or she should not have been released as soon", said Marian Onamer.

She has reportedly tried to commit suicide twice previous year and spent time in solitary confinement as punishment at the military prison in Fort Leavenworth.

Manning, who came out as transgender on the first day of her sentence, has faced challenges in federal prison and is confirmed to have attempted suicide at least twice, once in July and again as she was sentenced to solitary confinement in November for that initial attempt.

Last September she went on hunger strike after demanding gender confirmation treatment, and was eventually given her request by the Army.

Last week, Manning tweeted her excitement about her impending release: "Freedom was only a dream, and hard to imagine".

"For the first time, I can see a future for myself as Chelsea", she said.

The New York Times reported earlier this year that Manning was eventually permitted to wear female prison undergarments, receive speech therapy to feminize her tone and begin cross-sex hormone therapy.

"I take full and complete responsibility for my decision to disclose these materials to the public".
